Announcement of Funding Awards for Healthy Homes and Lead Hazard 
Control Grant Programs for Fiscal Year 2007

AGENCY: Office of the Secretary, Office of Healthy Homes and Lead 
Hazard Control.

ACTION: Announcement of awards funded.

SUMMARY: In accordance with Section 102(a)(4)(C) of the Department of 
Housing and Urban Development Reform Act of 1989, this announcement 
notifies the public of funding decisions made by the Department in 
competitions for funding under the Office of Healthy Homes and Lead 
Hazard Control Grant Program Notices of Funding Availability (NOFA). 
This announcement contains the name and address of the award recipients 
and the amounts awarded.

Housing Counseling Program

This program supports the delivery of a wide variety of housing counseling services to homebuyers, homeowners, low- to moderate-income renters, and the homeless. The primary objectives of the program are to expand homeownership opportunities, improve access to affordable housing and preserve homeownership. Counselors provide guidance and advice to help families and individuals improve their housing conditions and meet the responsibilities of tenancy and homeownership. Counselors also help borrowers avoid inflated appraisals, unreasonably high interest rates, unaffordable repayment terms, and other conditions that can result in a loss of equity, increased debt, default, and eventually foreclosure.
